Vita

Born in Berlin, Ines Kaun discovered her passion for choral music at an early age. She decided to turn this passion into her profession and began her studies in choral conducting in 2008 at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT, Weimar. Here, she studied choral conducting with Prof. Jürgen Puschbeck and orchestral conducting with Prof. Gunter Kahlert.

During the first year of her studies she became conductor of the studentchoir of the FSU Jena and took masterclasses with Frieder Bernius, Peter Dijkstra, Prof. Dan-Olof Stenlund and Peter Hanke.

In 2012 she attended the Royal College of Music, Stockholm with a scholarship from the DAAD to study with Prof. Fredrik Malmberg and received profound inspiration for her artistic development. 

Until this day she is fascinated by modern Swedish choral repertoire. 

Ines Kaun was also a scholar of the Chordirigentenforum of the Deutscher Musikrat, where she had the opportunity to work with numerous professional choirs,  NDR, MDR and WDR choirs to name a few and had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with Prof. Jörg-Peter Weigle, Stefan Parkman, Prof. Georg Grün and Prof. Jörn-Hinnerk Andresen. 

In 2018 she was a finalist in the German Chordirgentenpreis with the RIAS Chamber choir.

Parallel to the Chordirigentenforum, Ines Kaun started her career in Operatic repertoire. First as Assistant Chorus Master with conducting duties at the Staatstheater Darmstadt (2014), then as Chorus Master with conducting duties at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg(2016). 

In Heidelberg she was leading the Opera, Extra Chorus and the Children’s and Youth Choir. She conducted symphonic choral concerts and performances of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” She also undertook musical direction of the opera production “Coro Fantastico”.

In 2018 she became second conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Choir and had her debut as rehearsal conductor with the SWR Vokalensemble.

One year later Ines Kaun became Chorus Master at the Salzburg State Theater, where she also had conducting duties. Previous performances include Loewe’s “My fair Lady” and Abraham’s “Die Blume von Hawaii", Alma Deutscher's "Cinderella" and Rodgers &Hammerstein's  "The Sound of Music".

In September 2021 Ines Kaun wins the First Prize at the DIMA International Competition for Choral Conductors.

At the same time she started as Chorus Master at the Staatstheater Darmstadt in January 2022, where she also conducted performances, she was regularly invited to work with the Berlin Radio Choir.

Since August 2023 Ines Kaun holds the position of Chorus Master at the Royal Opera Stockholm.
